Learn Linda Hahn's unique technique for creating perfect New York Beauty blocks on the first attempt using just one pin. Throughout the class, Linda shows how you can make an optional miniature New York Beauty quilt. Add a modern flair to a traditional quilt block with this design. It goes together so fast, you'll want to try other colorways! There's plenty of open space to have even more fun with your quilting designs using the scraps and the cutaways from the main project. Quilt is 36" X 42".

Kit fee payable to Linda: $25

Please note the change in location.

    Hometown Holidays

Have fun customizing your hometown with your favorite fabrics and embellishments! We will make a sample of each of the blocks and then explore the possibilities for a unique project celebrating any holiday or family event, or even your favorite pet. The pattern includes 3 alternate smaller projects. The full-size quilt is 60.5 x 60.5. We will make a portion of the quilt that can be used as a table runner or pillow.

A workshop fee of $40 is payable to the guild. The fee for the pattern can be paid directly to Diane.

After the guild meeting on July 17th at Grace Lutheran Church, the Boot Camp workshop is just what it says. Beginners will learn skill-building techniques and experienced quilters might unlearn some bad habits. Cindy and Patti will discuss fabric preparation, cutting, pressing, construction, borders and binding. Each student will make an accurate 1/2 square, 1/4 square and a flying goose. Lots of handouts.

The cost of the boot camp is $20. If you take both this workshop and the all-day workshop the next day, the fee to the guild is $45.

You can pay the $6 kit fee directly to Cindy and Patti.

Everyone loves stars, but they need to be accurate. The St. Louis Star looks complicated but there are no Y seams. Focus on accurate piecing and pressing skills.

If you take both workshops (Boot Camp on Thursday afternoon and St. Louis Star on Friday), the cost will be $45 to the guild. If you take just this workshop from the Pizza Girls, the cost to the guild is $40.

You can pay the $6 kit fee directly to Cindy and Patti.

Tilted Tiles: An introduction to Semi-improv Techniques

‘Semi-improv’ is a technique for those who want the look and feel of improv, but who aren’t quite ready to give up their rulers.

The workshop will kick off with a detailed overview of the pattern to orient participants. Hands-on instruction will be provided for each step of the Tilted Tiles quilt pattern and classroom time will be allowed for participants to progress toward making a 36” x 36” wall handing or 18” x 72” table runner of your own.

The pattern uses efficient, traditional piecing techniques, and multiple block sizes, each with their own choose-your-own-adventure-style instructions for the creation of a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

Blocks are made from modular subunits which are mixed-and-matched in interesting color and value combinations to create visual interest and flow. The subunits can be assembled in various orientations and sewn together in numerous configurations. The blocks are constructed larger than required using traditional piecing techniques, then trimmed with a ruler, improv-style to give each block a ‘tilted’ or ‘wonky’ look which adds variety and movement to the assembled quit top.

The $40 workshop fee is payable to the guild.

The $15 pattern is payable to Charles directly.

Bring 4 half yards of fabric in various colors and color values. A 12.5” square quilting ruler is highly recommended.

    Just Two Charm Pack Quilts

Cheryl is a chemical engineer who loves designing quilts and quit math with her company Meadow Mist Designs. She will present her workshop, the afternoon after the guild meeting on November 20th.

This workshop requires Cheryl's book, Just Two Charm Pack Quilts. The book can be purchased from Cheryl the day of the workshop (with some extra goodies), or before the workshop from a quilt shop or bookstore.

Attendees do not need to pre-cut any fabric before the workshop, but they can if they would like, as cutting will be discussed in the workshop.

The $25 workshop fee is payable to the guild.
