Scholarship Program |
The Western North Carolina Quilters Guild Scholarship Committee accepts applications from graduating seniors in Henderson and Transylvania Counties.
Applications are open to any senior who has an interest in textiles, fabric production, graphic design, garment construction, or the needle arts such as quilting and embroidery. The student’s course of study does not need to be related to these areas. Applications are available from the Senior Counselor at each high school. Recipients of the scholarship are given a monetary award and a sewing machine which is donated by Beginnings Quilt Shop in Hendersonville.
Funds for our scholarship are provided from special events offered by the Guild. The main event for the scholarship is money raised from the biennial sale of tickets for a queen-sized quilt pieced and quilted by award winning quilters who are members of the Guild. Tickets for purchase are available from every guild member. The drawing for the Scholarship quilt is on Worldwide Quilting Day in March every other year. Another source of funds comes from donations given by guild members and the general public.
