Meetings

The guild meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month from January to November at Grace Lutheran Church located in Hendersonville, NC. Anyone interested in the art of quilting is welcome. Meetings officially start at 10:00 am. Members and guests are encouraged to arrive earlier for social time and to peruse the wonderful lending library of quilting books and videos, and browse through the donations table of fabrics, notions, and other items. Meetings include a business update, followed by Show and Tell, and a program presented by a regional or national speaker(s). Click here to learn more about upcoming speakers.

The December meeting is a celebration of the past year, induction of officers/chairpersons for the upcoming year, and a time to enjoy time with each other.

Workshops

The Guild offers workshops taught by regional and local experts. Workshops are led by the speaker(s) that presented programs at the guild meetings. Click here to learn more about upcoming workshops.

Small Groups

The guild has four small groups known as Areas A, B, C, and D, which meet monthly for charity work, fellowship, and continuing education. Members are encouraged to join one or more of the Areas.  Click here to learn more about Area meetings.

Monthly Newsletter

Grainlines, the guild’s newsletter, is published monthly. The newsletter is the best snapshot of the latest news and upcoming events.  Click here to access the newsletter

Quilt Show

The guild holds a quilt show every other year. The quilt show is a way to showcase the work of our members and other area quilters. The quilt show is the guild’s way of educating the community and others in the art and techniques of quilting.  Click here to learn more about the quilt show.

Opportunity Quilt/Scholarship Quilt

Every year one or more guild members create a quilt that support the guild’s programs. The quilts are beautiful works of art that are large enough to fit a queen-sized bed. The typical quilt is made by one or more quilters that have won awards for their work. The colors, artistry, and design are unmatched.

Members are asked to sell 10 tickets for quilts each year.  Tickets for quilts are also available at guild sponsored events, e.g., National Quilting Day, WNC State Fair’s WNCQG booth, and the Garden of Quilts Quilt Show.

In even numbered years, e.g., 2024, 2026, the guild creates an opportunity quilt. The proceeds from the opportunity quilt benefit guild programs.

In odd numbered years, 2025, 2027 the guild creates a scholarship quilt. The proceeds from the scholarship quilt are used for the scholarship program offered to high school seniors.

Local Retreats

The guild organizes two retreats annually: one in the spring and another in the fall. The retreats are a great way to allow members to quilt together, learn more about each other, and about quilting. Retreats are held at Bonclarken Conference Center.  The cost of the retreat is minimal, because quilters attend the event by day and go home to sleep.  Click here to learn more about the next local retreat.

Community Service

The members of the guild gladly share their talents with local charities by making over 100 quilt related donations each year. Quilts of all sizes are donated to local charities. Click here to learn more about the guild’s community service activities.
