2023 Schedule of Meetings, Workshops and Events


You are welcome at our meetings, but please be aware that workshops and the Holiday Luncheon require reservations. Please refer to WNCQG's monthly newsletter, Grainlines, for Workshop Registration Form and Policies.

Our regular in-person meetings are on the third Thursday of the month at 10 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, corner of West 6th St. and Blythe. The programs are listed below. We look forward to greeting everyone, and meeting guests!

May 18th and 19th
Judy Gula, from Alexandria, VA and Owner of Artistic Artifacts presents a “Vintage to Modern” Trunk Show. A nationally recognized Fiber Artists, Author and Instructor, Kaffe Fassett picked Judy’s shop as a stop on his recent tour.
WORKSHOP: , May 19th (9:30/6 hours)
Create small wall hanging with vintage materials and try surface design techniques like image transfer and attaching 3D items to any quilt. Email Barb Boatman to register: CutSewCreateStudio@Gmail.com
June 15th
Quilt Alliance Executive Director Amy Milne from Morganton, NC presents: “No More Anonymous Quilters”. Amy will discuss and demonstrate the process of documenting vintage and new quilts.
NO WORKSHOP
July 20th
Julie Bagamary a Textile Quilt Artist, Instructor, Author and Life Coach is from Fairview, NC. Julie will present “Create A Legacy with Quilt Art”.
WORKSHOP: Thursday, July 20th (12:30** to 3:30 /3 hours) after Guild Meeting. Participants will create a miniature piece which will be their own Fabric Art Legacy
August 17th & 18th
Tennessee Quilts Shop Owner Linda Crouch-McCreadie will demo Judy Niemeyer Paper Piecing and provide a Trunk Show
WORKSHOP: Friday Aug. 18th (10:00/6 hours) Participants create a 4-block wall hanging called Dancing Batiks.
September 21st
Ellen and Moira, also known as the “MacAvoy Sisters Say Sew” from Charlottesville, VA will discuss and show samples of wool applique and embroidery embellishments.
WORKSHOP: Thursday/ (12:30** to 3:30 /3 hours) after Guild Meeting. Participants will create a small pincushion featuring French and colonial knots, cast on stitches and more!
October 19th & 20th
Jan Girod, Kristin Rodriquez are from Fabric On A Whim in Atlanta, Georgia. They are the only.. ONLINE ONLY.. store focusing on hand -dyed fabrics for all your quilting needs. Jan and Kristin will share nature inspired fabric from their collection.
WORKSHOP: Friday /Oct 20 (9:30 to 2:30) Participants will create a small “nature inspired” wall hanging.
November 16th
Charles Cameron of Wake Forest NC presents “An Engineers Guide To Color, Value and Placements in Quilts. Charles was highlighted in the North Carolina Issue of Quilt Folk Magazine in 2022.

No Program – Guild Holiday Party

*Workshop Participants attending full day events should bring their own lunch/snack/drink. Instructors will provide a break time for enjoying your meal.

** Workshop Participants attending ½ day events (following the regular Thursday Guild meeting) should bring their own lunch/snack/drink and use the 30 minutes between the meeting and the workshop start time to enjoy their meal.
