National Quilt Day is a nationwide celebration of quilting held every year in March. The Western NC Quilters Guild (WNCQG) has been participating for many years.
Each year there is a Challenge for Guild Members and a focus fabric for the quilt. This year the theme is “My Happy Place”. The Challenge is to highlight a particular quilting style or technique i.e. applique, paper piecing or a particular type of patchwork. This year the focus fabric is a rich teal colored batik that has to be incorporated in the quilt.
The goal is to demonstrate the many different approaches to quilting, showing off the many varied talents of the WNCQG Members.
Also, WNCQG Members will be onsite with their sewing machines working on a variety of projects. Visitors are welcome to observe, ask questions and inquire about techniques used. This should be a very interactive afternoon.
