2014 Quilt Judge Lorraine Covington

An avid quilter for over 40 years, Lorraine Covington credits her love of quilting to her two grandmothers, both of whom were skilled in many needlework techniques. A love of all quilting techniques led to Lorraine's desire to become a certified judge, passing the tests for that NQA certification in 2001.

Lorraine has been honored to judge quilt shows across the country, including the Minnesota State Show, the National Quilting Association Show, and many regional and local shows. A member of NQA for many years, she served on the Board as the Certified Judge Coordinator and as the Education Chairperson. Her latest venture is a column, "A Matter of Judgment," for the NQA magazine, the Quilting Quarterly,

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Lorraine then lived in Florida for 10 years and now happily resides in North Carolina with Calvin, her husband of 34 years. She is a member of two local guilds and enjoys time with quilting friends and also teaching quilting techniques. She appreciates the fact that there is always something new to learn, and is constantly inspired by the beautiful quilts she sees in her travels. When she is not quilting, she is knitting, crocheting doilies, making wool table toppers...etc!
