On behalf of the North Carolina Quilt Symposium, Inc., and the Western North Carolina Quilters Guild, we welcome you to Flat Rock, North Carolina, and Quilt Symposium 2015. It is with great pleasure that we present this year’s teachers and their classes. We hope you will agree that we have an impressive faculty offering a wide variety of topics and techniques.

As co-chairs for this Symposium, we would like to thank Holly Moore and her staff at Bonclarken for all their assistance on-site. Bonclarken is a conference center operated by the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Please respect the non-smoking and alcohol-free policies of the conference center.

We would also like to thank all of the WNCQG members who gave their time and energy to ensure this symposium to be an unforgettable quilting experience for all participants. We would like to especially thank our committee chairs listed below who have worked tirelessly over the past two years.

Please direct any questions you may have to either of us. NCQS board members will also be on site and identified by their name badge to assist participants throughout the event. We look forward to seeing you in Flat Rock on May 28th.

Raffle Quiltdetail

This is the Symposium raffle quilt designed by Joanne Shafer as an adaptation of the Delectable Mountains block, using the computer program, EQ7. The fabrics were purchased at Beginnings Quilt Shop in Hendersonville, NC, and a shop in Burnsville, NC, which is no longer in business. Joanne Shafer pieced the outer field of mountains. The center pictorial of our Blue Ridge Mountains was created by Georgia Bonesteel, using her Grid Grip paper and her landscape strip piecing technique. The machine quilting was done by Peggy McCaffrey and Pat Leitch, owners of Hummingbird Quilting. The pillow topper piece was created by Georgia Bonesteel and is part of the ensemble. The quilt was entered in the Western North Carolina Quilt Show in June 2014 and earned a Blue Ribbon.

The winner will be drawn on May 31, 2015, at the conclusion of Symposium.

Tickets are available for $1 each or 6 for $5 from guild members and will be available at the quilt show.
