The giraffe is hand-painted on muslin, appliquéd, with free-motion thread painting. The giraffe was constructed as a separate quilt, then attached to the blue pieced sky quilt. The leaves were attached for a dimentional look. Enjoy!

Up, Up and Away

This quilt was inspired by a photograph of hot air balloons floating carefree in the sky. The technique used for pieced was based on the method, "No sewing until you quilt it" by local quilt artist and teacher Ann Holmes.

2012 raffle quilt

This quilt will go to a lucky winner
at the WNC Quilters Guild Show
at Blue Ridge Community College
October 19-21, 2012.

The quilt was designed by Joanne Shafer and Kay Francis, pieced by guild members and machine quilted by Peggy McCaffrey. Tickets are available from guild members or by contacting Joanne Shafer at 828.242.8562. The drawing will take place at the end of the quilt show on Otober 21st. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.

The quilt will be shown at the White Squirrel Festival in Brevard Memorial Day Weekend, July 4th celebration in Brevard and at the Mountain State Fair in September.
