What's New & What's Different
For the last 30 years, the Western North Carolina Quilt Guild has been a part of the tradition of having a quilt show in Hendersonville, NC. This year, on May 17-18, 2019, we will continue again in this tradition as we host The Garden of Quilts Show at the Bonclarken Conference Center in Flat Rock, NC. It will be held in the Youth Activities Building on the property.

The quilt show has been around for many years, but this year, we are focusing on “ What’s New and Different?” Many innovative and exciting things are planned to happen in the event and we are happy to share the excitement with you. VENDORS: We have at present 20 vendor spots filled with vendors who bring creative and exciting items to sell. This is an increased number of vendors for us. A complete listing of the vendors, many of them new to our show, with description of their products will soon be in the Grainlines, our on line publication, and on the WNCQG website. Please check for this listing.

REGISTRATION: Registration is now open. Please page down to find rules, categories, and forms.

QUILT SHOP: One of the popular spots in the show, is the Quilt Shop where WNCQG members sell items and our attendees purchase hand made quilts as well as gifts of interest centered around the Quilting World. This year, plans are being made for increased varieties in sellable items. This promises to bring interest to the shop. Credit card usage will be accepted.

BASKET RAFFLE: Six beautifully designed themed baskets will be raffled off at the show. These baskets designed to tempt any gardener, golfer, quilter, kid, cook, and yes, chocolate lover...will certainly entice you and our guests to buy a raffle ticket. Listen for ways in which you might help with the construction of these baskets.

PHOTOGRAPHER: We are excited to have a photographer this year who will capture the beauty of the quilts as well as the fun, excitement and “newness” of the show. All of us will be able to view and enjoy these photos on our website after Show 2019.

FOOD VENUE: We are excited to offer a larger listing of food items this year for sale during our noon meal time. These items will be sold at our outside pavilion. How about early morning donuts and coffee????

Books and Magazines: Used books and magazines will be for sale in our “Book Room”. Grainline articles and announcements at our guild meetings will describe how the collection of used items will be handled and sold.

DOCENT TOURS: Again we will offer tours for groups of over five people, who want special attention and explanations of the different styles, patterns and techniques used by quilters. Information will be given in the Grainline as to assigning dates and times of tours.

Camp Ground Facilities: Bonclarken has full hook up service at its private camp ground, located on the property adjacent to the Show location. Our show 2019 guests, who are campers, and are wishing to come and spend the night, may consider using the camp facilities... only a few steps away from show entry.

JUDGE: “Susan Edmonson is an award winning quilt maker who started her journey in 1981 and today continues to wow her audiences with her unique artistry.” This quote is only a small sampling of glowing paragraphs written about the judge for our 2019 show, Susan Edmonson, from Concord, NC. She has done it all and is a well known judge as well. We are fortunate to have Susan as our judge of our 2019 show!!!

Thanks to our “Garden of Quilts” show 2019 committee chairmen who have been working for one year and continue to do so in the “creation” of this special show. Join the excitement and keep in touch with the news and details of the show. You will want to be a part of the event by displaying your creative work. Even if you are a new quilter and new to our guild, we encourage you to enter your quilt/quilts. Others than members of our guild are also encouraged to enter their quilts. Comments given by the judge, and read only by the quilter, are important to the quilter, and help us learn and grow. We look forward to the display of your true artistry and creativity. Keep quilting.

“GARDEN OF QUILTS” SHOW 2019......What’s New and Different???? Just Wait and See.
